Book-Scented Hungary
Part 3 – The Christmas Tree and Its Decorations: Could There be Such a Thing as a Distinctly Hungarian Scent of Books?
Abstract
In the first part we explored how examples from China and Vietnam convey key principles for a book policy that has been made a strategic national priority in Hungary. In the second part we examined what contexts related to the knowledge society bear on these perspectives. In the concluding part of this series, we seek to answer how Hungary can become the “society most thoroughly steeped in books,” and how this might give rise to a “new bibliophilia”, i.e. a vastly expanding world of active love for books.
